Local Developers Support Surrey Memorial Hospital Emergency
Surrey, BC - Local developers Milan Ilich, Joseph Segal and Ron Emerson of the Campbell Heights Group have made a $250,000 gift in support of pediatric emergency care at Surrey Memorial Hospital. The gift will be used to help fund the Children's ER in the new SMH Emergency Centre.
The Campbell Heights Group is a consortium of three companies comprised of Kingswood Capital Corporation, Progressive Construction Ltd. and Emerson Real Estate Group. Campbell Heights Group is currently building the Campbell Heights Business Park - a 260 acre development in South Surrey.
"The Campbell Heights Business Park will bring business to Surrey and with business comes people and families," said Kingwood Capital President and well-known philanthropist Joseph Segal. "In supporting the new Children's ER at Surrey Memorial we are helping to ensure that families in Surrey have access to excellent health facilities, both now and in the future, and that Surrey continues to be a desirable place to live and do business."
Mayor Dianne Watts extended her gratitude on behalf of the City of Surrey. "I would like to thank the Campbell Heights Group for their generous contribution, and also acknowledge Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation's Board of Directors for their tremendous efforts to raise the funding for this endeavour," said Mayor Watts. "Through partnerships such as this, Surrey Memorial Hospital can continue in its legacy of providing excellent care to our growing city."
Surrey Memorial Hospital's current emergency department provides care for almost 70,000 patients a year - in a 20-year-old facility that was designed for just 44,000 annual visits. 20% of SMH emergency visits are children. With the city's enormous growth, Surrey Memorial Hospital is now home to the busiest emergency department in western Canada, and one of the busiest in the country.
