Tulips for Tomorrow: big boost from developer
Surrey, B.C. – One of Canada’s largest real estate development companies has offered to match dollar-for-dollar the first $50,000 donated this fall to Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Tulips for Tomorrow.
The pledge, by Foxridge Homes - a Qualico company, strengthens the developer’s support of the hospital. “That brings to $150,000 the amount the company has donated to Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation in the past couple of years,” notes Foundation Chair Jacy Wingson. “This latest donation is instrumental in the success of our efforts this fall to help the hospital and beautify the community.”
Qualico Developments is a fully integrated real estate development company with operations in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. In Vancouver, Qualico is recognized as Foxridge Homes.
Tulips for Tomorrow is the Foundation’s key annual fundraising initiative. With the help of business partners, tens of thousands of Princess Irene tulip bulbs will be planted this fall to recognize the hospital’s donors.
This year, tulip bulbs are being made available to the public, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Foundation. Tulip bulb packages can be found at five Surrey locations:
• 99 Nursery and Florist - 9376 King George Highway
• Art's Nursery - 8940 192 street
• David Hunter Garden Centers - 15175 72nd avenue
• Central City - customer service desk
• Guildford Town Centre - customer service desk
In addition to individual plantings, tulip displays will be set up in the spring around Surrey Memorial Hospital, at businesses, and in public locations including recreation centres and libraries.
Established in 1992, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $45 million to purchase medical equipment, fund innovative programs, and support training and research.
The Foundation is currently involved in its largest fundraising effort to date - a campaign to raise $15 million for the new Emergency Centre that will replace the current ER.
