Surrey insurance broker pledges $100,000 to SMH Foundation

Surrey, B.C. – The owner of a Surrey insurance brokerage has pledged $100,000 to Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The pledge is a commitment of $20,000 a year for the next five years through AMC Insurance Services Ltd, which has offices in Surrey and Langley. “It’s important to give back to the community,” says AMC Insurance owner Jaswinder Parmar. “Surrey Memorial Hospital is a worthy cause, since tens of thousands of people are treated there each year.”
 
“Long-term relationships like this one are key to the future of Surrey Memorial Hospital,” says Foundation President/CEO Jane Adams, “As the hospital’s role in the region continues to grow, the community’s ongoing support becomes even more valuable.” 
 
Established in 1992, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $45 million to purchase medical equipment, fund innovative programs, and support training and research. 
 
The Foundation is currently involved in its largest fundraising initiative ever, a campaign to raise $15 million to triple the size of the hospital’s Emergency Department. 
 
The B.C. government has committed to funding the essentials of a replacement to Surrey Memorial Hospital’s current E.R. The Foundation’s $15-million campaign will ensure the new Emergency Centre is state-of-the-art.
