February 10, 2009 Husband and wife dedicate donation to SMH newborns The gift comes from Lucky and Kiran Janda, who made the largest individual donation received by ReD 93.1 FM during a record-breaking radiothon last November in support of Surrey Memorial Hospital and the Guru Nanak Emergency Services Front Entrance. “Mr. and Mrs. Janda have displayed incredible generosity,” says ReD FM President and Foundation board member Kulwinder Sanghera. “Their donation also comes at a time when the hospital is expanding its care of vulnerable newborns.” Surrey Memorial Hospital is being designated a regional centre for the care of high risk deliveries and newborns. Plans to construct a five-story tower on the hospital grounds include the province’s largest single-room neonatal intensive care unit for premature newborns and other vulnerable infants. “My wife and I feel blessed to be able to make a contribution to such a worthy cause and support the Guru Nanak Emergency Services Front Entrance,” says Lucky Janda, an entrepreneur with business ventures in Surrey and throughout the Fraser Valley. “We also thank ReD FM for its selfless efforts to raise money for the hospital.” Established in 1992, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $50 million to purchase medical equipment, fund innovative programs, and support training and research. The Foundation is currently involved in its largest fundraising initiative ever, a campaign to raise $15 million for a new Emergency Centre. Click here to donate On November 15th 2007, it was announced the main entry to the new Emergency Centre will be named the Guru Nanak Emergency Services Front Entrance, in recognition of the South Asian community’s contributions to the Foundation throughout the years. -30- For more information or interviews, contact: Jason Howe |
