Building Foundations Campaign 

Our population is rapidly growing, and we need to keep up. Work is underway on a $512 million expansion and redevelopment project at Surrey Memorial Hospital. 

The centrepiece of this is an eight-storey Critical Care Tower that significantly continues to grow Surrey’s campus of Care.

Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation needs your help. Please donate today to support the single largest investment in health care ever made in British Columbia.

Once complete, the Critical Care Tower will add several dozen doctors and 650 full-time staff, along with these improvements:

• An expanded Neurology Unit with a dedicated stroke team
• An expanded Intensive Care Unit
• A High Acuity Unit for seriously ill patients
• An expanded Laboratory
• A Pediatric Pharmacy
• Additional space to train new doctors
• A rooftop helipad
• More than 440 new parking stalls

These are in addition to a new Emergency Centre and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which more than 10,600 donors have already supported.

The new Emergency Centre is scheduled to open in 2013, while the rest of the Tower will be complete a year later.

Throughout construction, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation will highlight some of the key health care services that will find a home in the Critical Care Tower. Our current focus is pediatric pharmacy, which will acquire a TPN compounder that produces the nutrition needed for premature babies who can't yet feed orally.
